Kananaskis Adventure Hiking Elopement

Getting ready to elope with local Canmore hiking elopement photographers

When T & Z first contacted us, they let us in on their plans to elope and we couldn’t be more excited for them. They were passionate about letting the landscape do the talking, enjoying the views on offer in the Rockies and going somewhere a little quieter for some privacy. We bounced location ideas around for a while, then the unusually late snowmelt made us re-think some options as these two were excited to see some wild flowers and a lot of the higher elevation hikes further west in the Parks were still waiting for the snow to disappear. Fortunately, living locally in Canmore has its perks and being able to suggest a couple of alternatives is where our expertise of the area really comes into play. On the road trip of lifetime from Colorado, we met these two at the trailhead and got geared up for our afternoon hike.

Intimate mountain top Elopement ceremony

This hike has always stood out to us as quintessentially “Canadian Rockies” with sweeping valleys, towering peaks and rushing creeks. We took our time along the trail, sharing stories and upcoming plans and really taking in the experience. The weather was amazing and as we ascended, the views came into play and flowers started to pop up, lining the trails and providing a lovely splash of colour. We reached the final plateau and took a little time to show these two around. With everything set up, a quick rest stop and time to figure out their “getting ready” zones, these two were ready for their mountain top elopement in Kananaskis.

Adventurous elopement photos in the Canadian Rockies

After their intimate exchange of vows, we took some more photos of the area, taking advantage of the expansive views. Before long we gathered up the backpacks and hiked with these two on the return trail in their elopement attire. It was lovely to see T & Z enjoying the scenery, pointing out things that caught their eye and even asking to stop here and there for another photo or two. It really was an amazing afternoon of hiking and one which we wish many couples could emulate with the “no rush” factor and time to really soak in the experience.

We reached the cars as the moon rose and we said our farewells, secretly wishing we could join these two for the continuation of their road trip through the Rockies.

For those in the early planning stages for your elopement, don’t be fooled into thinking that the only time to hike is for sunrise. Whilst there’s something special about watching the sunrise, there’s also magic to be seen at the end of the day too. The light is always changing in the mountains and if there’s something we know, and know well, is which hikes suit sunrise and which ones are better at sunset. This is a part of our location planning with you and we’ll make sure you know what to expect so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need some help.
