Rockies Heli Sunrise Heli-Elopement in the Canadian Rockies

In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, where the mountains meet the sky we embarked on an adventurous journey to witness the sunrise heli-elopement of A & B. With such an early start, we met these two on the road to convoy to the heli hanger. The morning drive was surreal with temps dipping below freezing, we enjoyed fog crawling through the forests and drifting eerily across the lakes. The drive got better and better and as the sun touched the peaks, we were pulling up to get set up for our morning flight.

With a real sense of adventure starting to set in, A & B were ready to fly, along with Cole, their commissioner for their ceremony. It’s always a joy to spend the morning in the mountains and experiences like this take things to the next level. A & B were awestruck as we flew through the valleys with golden light touching the cold rock around us. Once on the ground, we gave A & B some space to acclimate themselves to this surreal landscape and take a minute to soak up the experience before exchanging vows. As always, Cole delivered a beautifully personalized ceremony for these two to make things official. After the ceremony, we enjoyed time to move around and take advantage of the incredible light and scenery and capture some rugged landscapes and wild photos for these two.

Elopement photos at Peyto Lake

Having returned to base, we made our way to Peyto Lake, a vibrant, turquoise gem nestled amidst the Rockies. We stole away from the crowds and found our own little slice of peace and quiet to share some more intimate moments with A & B. Peyto is always impressive and even on this smoky morning, the views were still spectacular.

We hit the road once again for the short drive to Bow Lake. The smoky skies were worsening and if anything, this seemed to have kept some of the crowds away. As is quite usual at our popular outdoor lakes, we managed to find ourselves some quiter spaces along the shoreline for these two to enjoy some more personal time together and a toast to their new “Mr & Mrs” titles!

This sunrise heli-elopement was a real reminder that the weather will always do what it wants and your love story will continue, no matter what. These two adventurous souls had an amazing morning together and it was a real joy to be a part of the plans.
