Secluded Heli Elopement at Copper Point in Invermere, BC
While Banff and Lake Louise capture global headlines, those seeking true seclusion, wild alpine beauty, and an unhurried atmosphere often look further afield and in this case, west across the Continental Divide. Nestled in the heart of the Columbia Valley, Invermere, BC offers an extraordinary setting for a private mountain elopement, where massive Purcell peaks meet quiet, glassy waters.
An elopement here isn’t about navigating crowds or sticking to tight, public timelines. It’s about slow morning moments, meaningful celebrations with family, and taking flight into untouched backcountry terrain. Here is a look inside a bespoke Invermere heli elopement experience.
Getting Ready at Copper Point Resort
Every great adventure deserves a grounded, comfortable start. Tucked away on the edge of town, Copper Point Resort served as the ultimate home base for the morning. The suite offered generous natural light and enough space for everyone to relax without feeling rushed.
The morning unfolded at an easy pace, crisp mountain air drifting through the balcony doors, quiet moments shared over morning coffee, and the slow, deliberate assembly of the day's details. From the intricate textures of the dress to final adjustments of the suit, keeping the morning localized to one comfortable venue allowed the couple to stay completely present before stepping into the wilderness. With parents and the kids stopping by, everyone got to enjoy the building excitement for the day ahead.
Local Insight: Selecting a resort or private lodge with ample natural light and sweeping balcony views sets a calm tone for your morning, ensuring you feel relaxed long before stepping into a helicopter.
Family Moments at the Lake
Before ascending into the high alpine, the couple chose to root their day in a quiet, grounded moment with their closest family members. Down at the shores of Lake Windermere, surrounded by towering evergreens and soft mountain reflections across the water, they shared an intimate pre-ceremony gathering.
Including family in an elopement doesn't mean sacrificing the remote, high-altitude adventure you’ve always envisioned. By splitting the day into distinct, curated chapters, the couple created space to hug their loved ones and capture meaningful group portraits, all before transitioning into the private, remote phase of their celebration.
Heli ELopement with Glacier Helicopters
With the family celebrations complete, it was time for the main event. Meeting our pilot at the Glacier Helicopters base in Invermere, the energy shifted into pure anticipation. Within minutes of lift-off, the Columbia Valley opened up beneath us, revealing winding riverways, dense alpine forest, and the rugged, ice-carved spires of the Purcell Mountains.
Flying deep into the alpine, far beyond where foot trails or forest roads end, our pilot brought us down to a remote, hanging tarn, tucked away and protected from the elements. Surrounded by silence and monumental scale, the couple exchanged their vows and enjoyed some peace and quiet over a personalized picnic.
Ready to plan your own private mountain experience?
An elopement in the Columbia Valley is more than a ceremony. It’s an intentional, multi-faceted experience. By pairing valley comforts with raw, high-altitude flight access, you create a day that feels both deeply grounded and effortlessly extraordinary.
Because we strictly limit the number of heli-elopements we capture each season to protect these sensitive alpine locations and ensure an end-to-end planning experience, our private flight routes and custom timelines are reserved exclusively for our couples.
