Canmore Summer Wedding at the Iron Goat

A summer wedding in Canmore is hard to beat and the Iron Goat offers one of the most iconic settings in the Bow Valley. Known to all for arguably the best patio in town, this lovely venue is perched above town with uninterrupted views of the Three Sisters, Ha Ling Peak, and the surrounding Rockies. We were really excited to be joining A & M as the venue really stands out as one of the best options for a relaxed mountain wedding without sacrificing scenery or atmosphere.

Their celebration brought together everything couples love about the Rockies; an outdoor ceremony, big mountain views and warm alpine evenings. For couples planning a destination wedding in Canmore or Banff, the Iron Goat is a venue that balances accessibility with wow-factor and certainly one to check out. Keep reading to find out a little more about their incredible day.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at the Iron Goat

The outdoor ceremony space at the Iron Goat is one of its biggest draws. Set on an elevated patio, guests look directly out over the Bow Valley toward the Three Sisters and with our long summer evenings, it holds the sun long into the afternoon and there really is no place like it.

Their ceremony took place in the afternoon and with some very tasteful floral arrangements, some personal additions to the decor and family travelling from around the world, it was time to get the celebrations underway. One of the biggest advantages of hosting a ceremony here is the ease for guests with everything from parking to accessibility as straightforward as possible, making it ideal for multi-generational weddings. For couples considering an outdoor wedding ceremony in Canmore, the Iron Goat offers a rare mix of epic views and logistical simplicity, something we love.

Canmore Wedding photos at the Three Sisters

After the ceremony, we stepped away briefly for their family photos in town with the recognizable Ha Ling towering in the background. This peak is a family favourite, having all hiked the peak before. As the family headed back to the Iron Goat, we took the short detour for some couples wedding photos with the Three Sisters as the backdrop. One of the perks of getting married in Canmore is how quickly you can access world-class photo locations without a long drive or strict timelines, which is great on busy summer days when drive times can quickly add up.

The Three Sisters are especially striking in summer, and any time we get to spend with couples alone is a wonderful chance to slow things down and focus on relaxed, candid moments letting the landscape frame the experience. This is something we’re well known for in the photography world is a tasteful balance of scenery and intimate moments. We planned a short and sweet window for this session keeping the wedding timeline stress-free and allowing these two to rejoin their family and guests who had travelled from afar.

Evening Reception at the Iron Goat

With their guests gathered back at the Iron Goat the evening celebrations were underway with a reception filled with good food and conversation. These two shared a slideshow from their years together and as dessert was wrapping up, they took to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple. The Iron Goat’s reception space works especially well for couples who value atmosphere with long tables, locally inspired menu options, and an energetic but relaxed vibe, making it easy for guests to mingle and settle in for the night. For couples planning a Canmore summer wedding, the Iron Goat is a standout option for hosting both ceremony and reception in one location, with minimal logistics and maximum scenery.
