Fall Heli Elopement in the Canadian Rockies

Fall in the Canadian Rockies is one of those seasons that feels almost unreal. Golden hues light up the alpine valleys, the summer crowds begin to fade, and the air turns crisp in a way that makes every mountain view feel just a little sharper. For couples dreaming about an intimate wedding experience surrounded by incredible scenery, autumn offers something truly special. This heli elopement brought together family, adventure, and some of the most iconic locations in the Rockies, from Bow Lake and Peyto Lake to a spectacular sunset landing high in the mountains.

Family Elopement Photos at Bow Lake

The day began along the shores of Bow Lake, one of the most beautiful alpine lakes along the Icefields Parkway. Early fall colours were beginning to appear in the foliage in the area and the water in the lake was a colourful as ever. We love Bow Lake and find that it is a wonderful location for couples including family members in their elopement plans. The easy access and incredible scenery make it a great place to gather together before heading deeper into the mountains. With the turquoise lake stretching out behind them and towering peaks framing the valley, it was the perfect setting for relaxed family photos and a few quiet moments before the adventure continued.

Spectacular Peyto Lake Elopement in Fall

From Bow Lake we made our way up to Peyto Lake, one of the most recognizable viewpoints in the Canadian Rockies. For couples visiting the Rockies, Peyto Lake offers one of those rare views that feels even more impressive in person thanks to the naturally elevated view over the lake. Whilst the viewpoint can get busy at times, it is an incredible place to pause, take in the landscape, and capture a few unforgettable moments along the way.

Sunset Fall Heli Elopement at Rockies Heli

As the afternoon light began to soften, it was time to prepare to take to the skies. The couple climbed aboard a helicopter with Rockies Heli and lifted off into the mountains for their private ceremony location. When we landed we spent some time with the couple enjoying the lowering light while the heli returned to shuttle their family up as witnesses to their ceremony.

The helicopter landed on a remote plateau in a high alpine area with a natural amphitheatre where the couple exchanged vows. With the sun dropping the mountains slowly shifted through shades of bronze and gold until we were dipped into dusk. Moments like these are what make heli elopements so special. The ability to reach places that feel completely untouched creates an experience that’s difficult to replicate anywhere else.

As the sun dipped behind the peaks, the couple waved farewell to their family in the first return flight and enjoyed the final light of the day on their special day.
