First look at Mt. Robson in British Columbia

C & J went through the planning rollercoaster like many couples but this one was with a twist! They were planning their camping wedding of their dreams and to make it happen they needed to book enough campsites for all of their guests. This might sound easy enough but when you’re working with a 90 day release window for the camp sites, it’s really a game of luck and these two hit the jackpot! With everything booked in, location planning and all the details fell beautifully into place. We met them at Robson River Campground for a first look at their favourite spot along the Robson River.

With the nerves settled after their first look, we regrouped with the wedding party for a few photos at the Mt. Robson Visitor Centre. For those that are familiar, you simply can’t beat the views of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. We managed to sneak a few couples shot before it was time to make our way over to their ceremony site which their family and friends had been getting ready for their outdoor ceremony.

With everything set up and ready to go, we got to witness their intimate ceremony at Robson Meadows Campground. They had prepared and mapped out everything themselves down to every last detail and it was amazing. It was such a relaxing afternoon, being surrounded by their nearest and dearest, in their favorite place together. Once the ceremony was over, they symbolically lit a campfire together and tucked into a huge family BBQ, which the Uncles were tending to.

We had made plans ahead of time to make sure we could sneak away for some sunset photos, particularly if the conditions were looking good. They wanted to head back to the river, where we started the day and watch the light turn and spend some private, quality time together. As the sun dipped, we captured the changing colors and dramatic scenes. Before we knew it, the light was low and as one final creative urge, we added our own light to the scene and loved the resulting photos…even the passing black bear took a second to stop and watch.

It was such a joy to watch their day unfold and such a fantastic way to celebrate. We love days like this and really get a kick out of being a part of such unique, intentional and personal celebrations.
