Kananaskis Summer Wedding at Boundary Ranch
Getting ready at Kananaskis Lodge
When we left home in Canmore, it was an overcast morning with cooler temperatures in the air and we enjoyed a quiet drive out to Kananaskis where we met L & C mid morning at Kananaskis Lodge. The light rain showers passed and gave the mountains a refresh from the recent hot, dry weather. We lucked out with no rain for the rest of the day, yet the moody clouds stayed with us and provided some beautiful skies. We went to their rooms and joined in on the relaxed vibe as they prepared and got ready for their day.
Intimate first look in a forest in Kananaskis
As planned, we set up for a first look in the grounds of the hotel and knowing the area so well, we handpicked a quiet trail to sneak away on for some privacy. With a few nerves and excitement in the air, these two enjoyed some solitude in the Rockies as they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. It really was a beautiful way to start their day together.
Kananaskis Country Wedding photos at Wedge Pond
After the first look, we headed to Wedge Pond together for some couples photos, before their wedding ceremony. We found a nice private space to hang out and get some intimate moments of L & C with this incredible backdrop.
Before long, we returned to the hotel to meet up with close family and the wedding party for some portraits before heading to the ceremony. L & C planned things this way so that once the ceremony was finished they could really relax and spend some quality time with their family and friends, as opposed to having to take more time out of the afternoon for more photos.
Outdoor wedding ceremony at Boundary Ranch
With family and wedding party photos wrapped up, we made our way to Boundary Ranch for their afternoon ceremony. Everything was set up beautifully with Fortress Mountain towering in the background of their ceremony site. With their closest family and friends eager to watch these two exchange vows, the procession got underway.
Evening wedding celebrations in Kananaskis
After the ceremony, L & C kicked back and mingled with their guests who were making the most of the activities on offer at Boundary Ranch. It’s an amazing outdoorsy venue with lawn games and some incredible hunting history in Alberta to immerse yourself in. As the evening progressed, a hearty BBQ dinner was shared by all before a few words from the wedding party and some fun and games on the dance floor.
Kananaskis Country is a very special place in the Rockies and one we’re always excited to visit time and time again. If you need any tips or advice on the area then feel free to reach out. Not only have we hiked the area extensively but we also lived there for many years too so that extra local knowledge comes in handy.
