Post Wedding Adventure Session at Moraine Lake & Lake Louise
Post-Wedding Fall Adventure Session in the Canadian Rockies
Having been a part of E & E’s intimate wedding plans in Canmore earlier this Summer, they wanted to get some wedding photos somewhere special. It was super important to them to be able to spend their time on their wedding day with their close family and friends so it made a lot of sense to look at a post wedding adventure session to capture something different for them! These two love the mountains and there was one place that was at the top of their list…the incredible Moraine Lake. What made this even more enjoyable was that neither of them had visited the Lake before.
Lake Louise Wedding Photos
We decided on a late September date knowing to expect the unexpected with the weather and we ended up with all 4 seasons in a day and we’re not kidding! We watch the weather meticulously and whilst we can’t change things, we can certainly make educated bets on where to be and when. We met at Lake Louise and were greeted with warm sunshine and some moody looking skies swirling around the lake. With a quick change into their wedding clothes we walked to the lakefront and soaked up the grand views and vibrant turquoise waters. We closed out our time at Lake Louise as the clouds opened up with some heavy rain and shared stories from our respective adventures since their wedding as we walked to the cars.
Moody and Snowy Wedding Photos at Moraine Lake
From our weather planning we knew that the rain would start to ease, however the thing that interested us most on this particular day was the freezing level in the valley. With Moraine Lake being nearly 200m higher in elevation, we were expecting the rain to turn to snow somewhere between Lake Louise & Moraine Lake. Whilst betting on snow was a good move, the impossible call would be the clouds and how they would interact with the Ten Peaks at the Lake. As we approached the lake, rain turned to snow and the low lying clouds were constantly moving revealing small windows to the peaks above…it looked amazing. For their first visit to Moraine Lake, they couldn’t have had more unique conditions. The bonus of the poorer weather forecast was that we had the place to ourselves, it was so special.
After making the most of their private Moraine Lake moments and as the clouds covered the peaks for good, we made our way to the cars once again and said our farewells to these two adventurers!
