Sunrise Hiking Elopement in Kananaskis Country

These two traveled from the US to share in their love for adventure in the Canadian Rockies. They wanted to blend the experience of a sunrise hike to exchange personal vows with a ceremony with their closest family and friends for the ultimate elopement experience.

We met with H & K in the early hours and hit the road for the short drive to their chosen hike. With some meticulous planning in the run up to their day, a high priority was privacy and with some wonderful options to choose from we settled on this quieter trail in Kananaskis. Not over published as a sunrise hike, we knew the potential for privacy and had mapped out the timing perfectly to get them in the best spot for the light to break the tallest horizon in the valley. Sunrise hikes are always spectacular and this one was no exception with stunning conditions and warm weather. They exchanged vows on a natural plateau and we continued to capture some more memories for them before heading back on the return trail.

With a short hike behind us, it was time to hit the road and catch up with their family and friends at The Fenlands Meadows in Banff. These two chose this prime location for its ease of access and proximity to their accommodation in Canmore. With an intimate set up, the weather held beautifully for their ceremony. After sharing in this experience with their family, we took the time to capture some family portraits before departing for the day.

Elopements come in all shapes and sizes and we’re seeing more and more couples explore ways to celebrate together, just the two of them, and then join up with close family and friends, even a wider group of guests to continue the celebrations. We have been thoroughly enjoying these celebrations as it wholeheartedly embodies the “have it all” approach that we love!
