Winter Wedding at the Louis Trono Gazebo in Banff
A winter wedding in Banff is nothing short of magical and an experience that is hard to match. Snow-covered peaks, cozy mountain town vibes, and crisp winter air create the perfect vibe for an intimate and unforgettable celebration and this one was no exception. They narrowly escaped the annual cold snap here in the Rockies and had the full winter experience with temperatures dipping to -16 degrees Celcius. This couple’s winter wedding journey took them from wedding prep at The Peaks Hotel to a stunning outdoor ceremony at the Louis Trono Gazebo, followed by a warm and lively reception at the Bluebird Restaurant.
Wedding Prep at The Peaks Hotel in Banff
The day began at The Peaks Hotel, where the couple got ready surrounded by close family and friends. With the soft glow of morning light reflecting off the snow-covered streets, the anticipation built as final touches were made. These two brought with them a super relaxed vibe and it really shone through. This allowed for meaningful moments, quiet exchanges and laughter between friends, and the excitement of what was to come…so lovely to see!
First Look in Banff Central Park
With these two ready to roll for the day, it was time to step outside for the first time and enjoy meeting for the first time that day in Banff Central Park. With a short walk to stretch the legs and get some fresh mountain air in the lungs, the couple met in Banff Central Park. With a fresh coat of snow, we were able to find a secluded corner to disappear to and enjoy some peace and quiet, nestled in the heart of town. As they turned to see each other for the first time, emotions ran high and these two shared some laughs and jokes, hugs and kisses and an intimate exchange of their private vows to each other. We love private vows on a wedding day as couples really get a chance to express how they feel away from any prying and it gives them the time and space to be emotive with each other without judgement or feeling like they are on display, just amazing.
Wedding Party Photos at Lake Minnewanka
Before the ceremony, the wedding party made their way to Lake Minnewanka for some breathtaking group portraits. The frozen lake, surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks, offered an unbeatable backdrop for fun, some big scenes and candid moments. We always love the combination of elegant wedding attire against the winter landscape - it has such a clean, timeless look to it that is hard to beat in any season.
Outdoor Ceremony in Downtown Banff
With a much needed warm up break for the wedding party on the bus back to Banff it was time to get ready for their outdoor ceremony. Guests had started arriving and gathering in the park for this beautiful winters day and the scene was set. With breath rising, the couple exchanged vows at the Louis Trono Gazebo, a charming outdoor setting nestled in the heart of Banff. Despite the cool temperatures, the warmth of their love and the excitement of their guests filled the space. There really was a great energy around this event and with smiles all around, it was time to head inside to the Bluebird to continue the celebrations.
Wedding Reception at the Bluebird Restaurant
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the Bluebird Restaurant, a cozy and stylish venue known for its inviting ambiance and mountain-inspired cuisine. Inside, guests were welcomed with warmth, drinks and a beautifully decorated space that reflected the couple’s love for winter and the Rockies. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and plenty of laughter. The couple shared their cake cutting, their first dances and an evening full of partying surrounded by loved ones.
