Summer Wedding in Canmore at The Bear & Bison Inn
Intimate wedding in the Canadian Rockies
It was such a joy to join E & E for their wedding in our home town of Canmore. Like many couples, they went through the pandemic rollercoaster to rearrange their wedding, not once, not twice but three times. We were super excited to be able to be a part of their day and see them celebrate with close family and friends with the mountains of Canmore providing a beautiful backdrop to their day. One thing we loved was the tasteful addition of Disney inspired, ornate details, threaded beautifully through their day.
Wedding ceremony at The Bear & Bison Inn with local Canmore Wedding photographers
After a relaxing morning for the bride and groom to get ready, the scene was set for these two to join each other in the discrete courtyard of The Bear & Bison Inn to celebrate their love in the afternoon sun. Before the procession began, the bride took a quiet moment for a first look with her father and a pre-ceremony “no-look” with her husband-to-be...talk about building the anticipation for the ceremony.
The time came to walk down the aisle and join Marilyn Reid, the commissioner to exchange vows and make things official. The weather, as usual in the mountains, was challenging the forecasted rain and doing everything to join in on the Disney feels to be as warm and bright as possible.
Post wedding photos in Canmore with Banff Photographers
After the ceremony, the focus was to keep the family together and get some mountain inspired photos. On any given busy summer Saturday, town is busier than ever, but as locals we know just where to go to get some peace and quiet. E & E leant on our expertise in this area and with our planning in the run up to the day, we spent some time together weighing up the feel of each photo location and how it would flow into the day. With all the details pre-planned we went with plan A and created some beautiful family portraits.
From there, we moved on to a second location with the bridal party. We’d mapped out the photo locations to ensure that we had different backdrops and scenic feels for each. We enjoyed some time at Spring Creek Bridge with well manicured greenery and flowers in full bloom to add a splash of colour, not to mention the creek for a beautiful water element in the scene.
E & E were amazing throughout the afternoon, spending time to capture memories with their families and friends. Now was the time for them to steal away and spend a little private time together to switch off and relax at our third location. With the afternoon moving into early evening, it was time to return to the Inn for a quick breather before the grand entrance and dinner!
Moody evening storm for some post-dinner photos in Canmore
Lonny & Eugenie at The Bear & Bison had everything set up and ready to go for an intimate dinner in the courtyard. The rains continued to hold off and allow everyone to kick back and relax with some drinks and a delicious BBQ spread. As the evening progressed, first dances were had, cake was cut and fun and games were had with guests playing lawn games and socialising as the light faded.
As a last pre-planned part of the day, we stole away once more for some late evening photos for one final, more unique stop in Canmore. It’s always hard to avoid the Three Sisters as a backdrop and we saved this one until last for these two. With the rain finally making its way into the valley, the moody skies were a perfect backdrop to add a little something special to their photo memories.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with E & E and it was lovely to meet their families and document their special day. We’re already looking forward to seeing them again in the fall for their post-wedding session.
