Sunrise Engagement Session in Banff & Sunset Adventure Session in Kananaskis
Sunrise at Two Jack Lake with Banff elopement photographers
Planning engagement photos with B & C took some exciting twists and turns thanks to a smoky Summer but we found our window with clear skies and had an action packed day in the mountains. With a priority focus on enjoying some time in the presence of the iconic Mount Rundle, it was a natural decision to enjoy one of Banff’s best sunrise spots to start the day. A calm morning gave us mirror-like reflections in the lake and made for amazing conditions. After the sun had risen and warmed the peaks, we made our way to Vermilion Lakes to capture another angle of the towering Mount Rundle. With sunrise behind us, it was time for a break before regrouping later for our evening hiking session.
Kananaskis sunset hiking engagement on Tent Ridge Horseshoe
B & C mentioned they would love some photos with elevated views and after bouncing some ideas around, we settled on Tent Ridge in Kananaskis for sunset. Being local Canmore wedding photographers, we’re always in touch with how the light moves around the valleys and knew that this particular hike would offer not only great views, but an amazing variety of photos as day turns to dusk. With a quick ascent behind us, we shared stories and relaxed on the ridge, keeping warm with Bailey’s hot chocolate and a makeshift wind shelter. Before long, it was our time to get creative and enjoy photographing these two adventurous souls high in the alpine. Some light clouds moved in and gave us some incredible sunset colours to end the evening...pure magic.
As we packed up our gear and watched the final light of day fade, it was time for one last hot chocolate before the hike back to the car in the dark. It was such an awesome day getting to see both sunrise and sunset in the Canadian Rockies and we are already looking forward to joining B & C for their wedding next summer.
