Sunrise session at Moraine Lake with Banff Wedding Photographers

S & S contacted us to capture some engagement photos for them during their trip to Banff and we were super excited to start planning. We chatted with them about where they wanted to visit and were able to suggest several itineraries with a variety of photo opportunities that might catch their eyes. With some careful consideration, S & S settled on spending some time with us at the famous Moraine Lake and then changing things up with some photos at Takakkaw Falls for some contrast in their photos. With plans in place we kept an eye on the weather and with some looming storms in the forecast we shifted gears from a sunset, to a sunrise session.

Our visit to Moraine Lake could not have been more enjoyable than what can be expected on a busy Summer’s day. We toured the rockpile showing S & S some of the iconic viewpoints and tactfully moved into quieter areas leaving us with a private experience which was so special. After soaking up the sunrise over the Ten Peaks, we stopped by Lake Louise Village for a hot drink break before hitting the highway for the picturesque drive west into Field, BC.

We regrouped with S & S at the car park and enjoyed listening to their thoughts of the short drive from Lake Louise. One of our favorite things is to see our couples enjoying these mountains and it’s a constant reminder not to take them for granted. We laughed, chatted and shared stories as we approached the falls. We had the wind direction in our favor as it kept the spray to the south, keeping us dry and providing some unreal conditions as the mist caught the sun. The mist kept swirling and interacting with the light in so many ways and these two looked like movie stars out in the wild...what an amazing session.

We had such an amazing morning with S & S. We wished them the best for the rest of their trip and offered some suggestions for what to see on their way to Jasper. We can’t wait to see these two again and we’re excited to have a local tour guide to show us around in Toronto.
