Winter Elopement at The Juniper Hotel
S & D contacted us about their plans to elope at the start of Winter and we were excited to be a part of the plans. There is no “bad time of year” in Banff National Park and these two hit the jackpot with that wintry, snowy feel and open water still on some of the unfrozen lakes. We met them at the Juniper Hotel for some getting ready photos early in the morning and to see the anticipation for the day building.
First Look at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park
With our bride and groom ready, the plan was to head out to Lake Minnewanka for a wintry first look from some recent, fresh snowfalls. With close friends on hand to help with transport, we were all set up for their intimate moment. After their first look, we took the time to get some more couples photos at the lake and in the forest of the shoreline. Before long, it was time to make our way back to Vermilion Lakes for their outdoor wedding ceremony in the presence of Mt. Rundle.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Vermilion Lakes in Banff
We arrived at Vermilion Lakes and met with some close friends at the shoreline, along with Marie-Eve the commissioner for their ceremony. With the colder temperatures setting in, everyone bundled together to witness their exchange of vows by the lake. With some touching personal stories shared, these two made things official and soaked up the experience with those present and also some family members on the other end of their livestream. After some final photos at Vermilion Lakes and a leave-no-trace bubble exit, everyone headed back up to the Juniper Hotel for their wedding lunch.

Before everyone tucked into their intimate lunch together, they took the time to share some speeches and collected videos from family members around the world. Finally, as the sunlight broke through, it was time for some photos with their friends outside on the patio of the Juniper. With some amazing memories captured on camera, everyone returned to their lunch as we said our goodbyes.
This intimate winter elopement was a beautiful celebration for a couple that are clearly loved dearly by their friends and families. It really was a joy to see, surrounded by the mountains of Banff and we can’t wait to see what adventures they get up to in life together!
