Planning with D & K was an adventure in itself! These two are avid hikers, love climbing and mountain biking so we found ourselves sharing stories of hikes we all enjoy, places to go, hidden gems and of course the kind of photos that they were hoping to get for their engagement. We knew from the planning stages that it was going to be a blast with these two out on the trails and with some back and forth, we narrowed the extensive locations list to 1 or 2. We kept a close eye on the weather and with a last minute switch of days, we were all set!
Full day hike for summit engagement photos in Banff National Park
With plans in place to meet a few kms along the trail, we set off and it really wasn’t long before we all met up and continued on together. We had a longer day hike ahead of us and had specifically made plans to forego the usual sunrise or sunset plans for one main reason. We knew the golden colors of the larch trees were in prime condition and viewing them in full daylight would give them the pop and glow that visually is simply spectacular, especially from above! The hike flew by and before long we were enjoying summit views and some snacks as a reward before D & K got changed for their photos. Having hiked the area extensively before we knew where to be and how to take advantage of the changing light conditions with passing clouds. One thing we love about this area is simply the photographic variety thanks to 360 degree views.
On the return hike, we made a couple of stops along the way and finished the day with some fun mountain biking photos. These two wanted to build in their love for biking into the day without compromising on some amazing views and this was the perfect way. Enjoy the highlights.
